Theory & Composition Classes
Overview
Our theory and composition classes are an extension of private piano or group piano lessons. Early elementary level and advanced level will benefit from this class. Students will learn to experiment with different rhythms, melodic lines and the rules of writing songs that incorporate what they learn from private lessons. We also work on music analysis to comprehend the structure of music in different style.
Benefits
Students who are enrolled in theory and composition class excel and advance more quickly in their piano learning. Students also show more confidence as they are required to constantly participate. With each new lesson, the students build the skills to be able to write their own pieces. This skill transfers into their playing as well because they are required to perform all of their compositions. The students learn to love and appreciate music while having fun
Piano Play by Feel: A Course to Bring Out Your Most Natural Playing is Wunder Academy’s self-published compilation of drills that exercise the musical brain away from the keyboard. The Team of Wunder Acadmy created these work books with our music students in mind. We want out students and other students alike to develop a stronger visual memory of the keyboard, and an understanding of important concepts that will make them into stronger and more natural players.
